MMUST PARTNERS WITH NATIONAL AUTHORITY FOR THE CAMPAIGN AGAINST ALCOHOL AND DRUG ABUSE (NACADA) TO ESTABLISH ALCOHOL AND DRUG ABUSE BASELINE SURVEY IN THE UNIVERSITY

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) on 25th January, 2022 launched an Alcohol and Drug Abuse Baseline Survey at the University in partnership with  National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA). The event themed ‘Ushindi dhidi ya Madawa za Kulevya’ took place at the University’s Main Catering Unit (MCU 002) and will run for a period of two weeks from 25th January 2022 to 8th February 2022.

iHELP PROJECT PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR DR. ROSE OPIYO EMBARKS ON THREE DAY INTENSIVE CHILDREN HEALTH ASSESSMENT VISITS IN THE ESTABLISHED iHELP CENTRES IN IKOLOMANI SUB-COUNTY

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology Scholar Dr. Rose Opiyo, who is the Principal Investigator of the iHELP project, conducted a three-day intensive health and nutrition assessment of children enrolled in various established iHELP centers in Ikolomani Sub-County from 19th - 21st January, 2022. The aim of this project is to roll out home-based Centres to increase opportunities for Children to access Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE).

MMUST HOLDS CLUB AWARENESS DAY TO SHOWCASE THE VARIOUS CLUBS AND ASSOCIATIONS IN THE UNIVERSITY

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology Office of Dean of Students on 24th January 2022, held its first ever Club Awareness Day at the Main Catering Unit (MCU) Hall to showcase different clubs and associations that promote student engagements in the University.

The event was graced by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Hussein Golicha. In his address, Prof. Golicha noted that MMUST is a student-centred University that is keen in ensuring students’ participation in most of its activities.

MMUST’S renowned Professor of Environmental Chemistry and Toxicology, Prof. Francis Orata Omoto on Saturday 22nd January 2022, led a team of intellectuals from the University’s Department of Pure and Applied Chemistry in an advocacy mission for rural girls’ enrolment in chemical sciences careers. The event was held at the Sacred Heart Mukumu Girls School in Kakamega during the Chemistry celebrations Day dubbed the ‘Chemistry Day’.

MMUST’S AIDS CONTROL, GENDER AND DISABILITY MAINSTREAMING UNIT TRAINS GENDER MAINSTREAMING COMMITTEE IN A BID TO UPSCALE IMPLEMENTATION OF GENDER PRACTICES

MMUST has on 20th January, 2022, set in motion activities and programs that will see the extensive and meaningful implementation of gender mainstreaming take shape at the institution. Today, the University’s AIDS Control, Gender and Disability Mainstreaming Unit conducted a training workshop on Gender issues for its Gender Mainstreaming Committee at Bishop Nicolas Stam Pastoral and Animation Centre in Kakamega County.

MMUST ATTRACTS YET ANOTHER BENCHMARKING PEER AS KOITALEEL SAMOEI UNIVERSITY COLLEGE VISITS!

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) has attracted yet another benchmarking peer institution, with the visit of Koitaleel Samoei University College. Today, MMUST hosted an Ad Hoc Committee from Koitaleel Samoei University College for benchmarking on MMUST’s Scheme of Service for Human Resource, Use of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) in examination processes. Koitaleel Samoei College is a Constituent College of University of Nairobi.

A SECTION OF MMUST MEDICAL LABORATORY STAFF RECEIVES CERTIFICATES FOLLOWING SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF COVID-19 TESTING TRAINING

A number of staff from the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, yesterday 18th January 2022, were awarded certificates by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Solomon Shibairo. This was after successful completion of a training on COVID- 19 testing.

The event was graced by the Vice Chancellor who applauded the team for endeavoring to undergo the COVID- 19 testing training at the time when the world required skilled personnel in the field.

MMUST RENEWS ITS COLLABORATION WITH KAKAMEGA SPORTS CLUB IN A BID TO EXPAND OPPORTUNITIES FOR STAFF AND STUDENTS

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST), has today,18th January 2022, formally renewed its existing collaboration with Kakamega Sports Club (KSC) through an exchange of signed copies of MOU between the two parties. This MOU was first signed in July 2017. The renewed MOU contains additional areas of collaboration, including capacity building, training in sports and resource sharing.
