
MMUST Joins Higher Learning Institutions at Gathirimu Girls’ Technical High School to Offer Guidance to Students on Potential Career Paths
Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology on Saturday, 31st May, 2025, joined several other institutions of higher learning at Gathirimu Girls’ Technical High School-Kiambu to provide guidance to students on potential career paths to pursue. This was during Gathirimu’s annual career day, themed ‘Building the Best Among the Rest’, which attracted over fifteen (15) Universities, Colleges and Institutes, and a number of high schools in Kiambu County. At the event, MMUST was represented by the Directorate of Career Services, led by Prof. Robert Egessa, as well as the Directorate of Corporate Communications and Marketing (DCCM). The team utilized the opportunity to showcase the University academic programmes in an effort to attract prospective students, especially those sitting for the 2025 KCSE examinations.
“At MMUST, we have been able to establish a very strong customer care and call centre, a place where we help all our clients on matters of course selection and career guidance. Feel free to reach out to us and get assistance from our customer care team, or go through our brochures for information regarding our programmes,” urged Prof. Egessa during the opening ceremony of the career day.

The Deputy Principal of Administration at Gathirimu, Mrs. Florence Ngobo, thanked the institutions of higher learning for attending the event, pointing out that such activities provide an opportunity for students to interact with professionals, as they explore prospective career paths. On his part, Mr. Nobert Omondi, a teacher at the school who played a critical role in coordinating the event, noted that the career day was a huge success and that it certainly left a positive impact on the students.
“It is important for students to familiarize themselves with programmes offered at different Universities, from as early as they join high school. This is key because it informs their career choices and enables them to select a higher education institution that aligns with their academic goals,” stated the MMUST Marketing Officer-Mr. James Muriithi, in an interview with DCCM.

The Universities, Colleges and Institutes present at the career day were; MMUST, St. Paul’s University, Murang’a University of Technology, KCA University, Kiriri Women’s University of Science and Technology, Africa International University, the College of Human Resource Management, NIBS Technical College, Preeminent Training College, Air Travel & Related Studies Centre, Sensei Institute of Technology, Summit Technical College, Outspan Medical College, GoCare Training Institute, Frontlearn Institute, Kiambu National Polytechnic, Beta Care Training Institute, Minoke Technical Training Institute, Cascade Institute of Hospitality, and Computer Pride. It is worth noting that the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS), Equity Bank and Indomie Kenya were also represented at the event.
MMUST’s participation in this event highlights its ongoing commitment to providing students with relevant information about academic and professional opportunities available after high school. Without doubt, such activities are a great strategy for the University to attract more students, while at the same time it empowers them with the necessary knowledge needed to make meaningful career choices.
