KCB Foundation Delegates Visit The Vice Chancellor Over Its 26 Sponsored Students’ Welfare
Delegates from the KCB Foundation on 23rd April, 2026 paid a courtesy call on the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Solomon Shibairo, to discuss the status of its Education programme at MMUST. The programme, which saw the University receive the first cohort of sponsored students in 2022, has since expanded, with the Foundation now supporting a total of 26 students at MMUST. Prior to the meeting with the Vice Chancellor, the delegates held a forum with the students, where they checked on their academic performance and general welfare at the University. The delegation, led by the KCB Foundation’s Education programme Senior Manager-Mr. Stephen Matee, comprised Mr. Benson Masero (Manager of KCB Tertiary Programmes) and Mr. Wycliffe Indimuli (Western Region Coordinator for the KCB Foundation).
“The University has been partnering with KCB Bank and the Foundation in a number of initiatives. We appreciate the support you accorded these students to ensure they pursue higher education. We look forward to receiving more students sponsored by your Foundation,” said Prof. Shibairo. Similarly, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Planning, Research and Innovation)-Prof. Christopher Ngacho, thanked the Foundation for its support, adding that MMUST is open to exploring more areas of collaboration.

The KCB Foundation’s Education programme Senior Manager, Mr. Stephen Matee, speaks during the courtesy call.
In his remarks, Mr. Matee revealed that the number of students at MMUST sponsored by the Foundation is set to increase in the upcoming September intake, as the Foundation will be transitioning 1000 students into tertiary institutions. “We are happy to collaborate with MMUST to realize value addition in our relationship. The Foundation would like to work closely with the University’s Finance Department to ensure it remits tuition fees in good time. There is also a need for the institution to provide us with regular update reports on the students’ academic progress,” he stated.
According to Mr. Matee, the KCB Foundation Education Programme fully supports bright but financially disadvantaged students across Kenya. The entry point into the scholarship programme is Grade 10, where students are supported through the three (3) years of Senior School, before transitioning into tertiary institutions. He added that upon completion of their tertiary education, the Foundation links the students with its employability skills programme, alumni networks as well as employment opportunities.

MMUST and KCB Foundation officials hold discussions at the Vice Chancellor’s office.
Clearly, the KCB Foundation is committed to increasing access to education for the under-privileged and the transition rates from secondary to tertiary education. As the first cohort of sponsored students at MMUST nears completion, the call from the delegates to expand this collaboration is evidence of the University’s high quality of training and service delivery.
