
Bishop Dr. Fred Akama Pays Courtesy Call to the Office of the MMUST Vice Chancellor to Explore Possible Areas of Collaboration
Bishop Dr. Fred Akama, the Founder and Overseer of Tent of Testimonies Ministries International (TOT Ministries), on 6th October 2025, paid a courtesy call to the Office of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Solomon Shibairo. Accompanied by Mrs. Minayo Akama and the CEO- Uprising TV, Mr. Sam Wekesa, the team explored various areas of collaboration including the upcoming Young Entrepreneurs Summit which is set to be held at MMUST on 31st October, 2025.

Prof. Shibairo, welcomed the proposals, noting that such collaborations align with MMUST’s strategic objective of fostering partnerships that enhance academic excellence and institutional growth.
The meeting was also attended by Ag. Deputy Vice Chancellor (Planning, Research and Innovation), Prof. Peter Bukhala. Commenting on Dr. Akama’s proposal to invest in student ideas, Prof. Bukhala lauded the move saying it will benefit students at MMUST by nurturing their creativity, enhancing their entrepreneurial skills. Mr. Oscar Waswa from the office of the Dean of Students was also present at the meeting.

During the meeting, Dr. Akama presented various proposals on possible areas of collaboration between MMUST and TOT Ministries. These included the establishment of a University Printing Press to enhance efficiency in document production and serve as a sustainable revenue stream for the institution. He further proposed the setting up of a Flour Milling Firm, leveraging the expertise within the School of Agriculture Veterinary Sciences and Technology to provide students with practical training opportunities while fostering partnerships with local farmers. This initiative would make MMUST the first university in the region to venture into flour production.

Additionally, Dr. Akama proposed the installation of solar power in collaboration with partners from China and the Czech Republic, noting that the University would not bear the initial capital costs, thereby reducing operational expenses. He also emphasized the importance of cultivating a business-oriented culture within the University by investing in student-led innovations. Dr. Akama has encouraged students with businesses and business ideas to attend the seminar that will be hosted at MMUST on 31st October 2025, where they will pick the best 10 students and award them with Kshs. 100,000. Other participants would be linked to the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) program, a five-year initiative by the Government of Kenya, for support.
