MMUST Concludes Highly Competitive Talent Scholarship Trials With Successful Candidates Expected to Benefit From a 50% Tuition Waiver
The competitive MMUST’s 2026/2027 talent Scholarship trials have officially come to an end, paving the way for successful candidates to receive 50% tuition fee waiver. The week-long trials, held from 12th to 15th May 2026, are a key part of the University’s initiative to support talented yet underprivileged students aged 25 years and under. The candidates were assessed across multiple disciplines, including soccer, rugby, volleyball, hockey, netball, handball, drama, athletics, music, badminton and basketball.

Speaking to the Directorate of Corporate Communications and Marketing (DCCM) crew, the University’s Games Tutor, Mr. Shisoka Akaka revealed that the participants will be ranked based on their performance and skill levels. He stressed that the selection process was multifaceted, balancing talent with academic eligibility. “The applicants were selected based on their KCSE results, which will enable them to pursue a diploma or a degree programme offered by MMUST. Successful candidates will know their fate by mid-June,” he stated.

Echoing the impact of the initiative, one of the former beneficiaries of the programme and the current women’s soccer captain, Ms. Margaret Ogol, credited the scholarship with providing her a pathway to higher education that might otherwise have been out of reach. “This scholarship has enabled me to pursue my academic goals while also nurturing my talent,” she said.
By actively supporting talented yet underprivileged students, MMUST continues to strengthen its brand as an inclusive, socially responsible institution. In addition, recruiting elite talent across these diverse disciplines is set to boost the university’s performance in national and regional games, thereby elevating MMUST’s profile in the competitive sports arena.
