MMUST Strengthens Student Recruitment through Career Guidance Outreach in Nairobi and Kiambu Counties

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) through the Directorate of Career Services, continues to strengthen its commitment to empowering prospective university students through strategic career guidance and marketing outreach programmes across the country.

A team from the University led by the Director of Career Services, Prof. Robert Egesa, in collaboration with the Marketing department visited Nairobi School in Nairobi County and Gathirimu Girls Secondary School in Kiambu County to engage students on career planning and higher education opportunities available at MMUST.

During the interactive sessions, the team guided learners on how to make informed career choices based on their interests, abilities and aspirations. The students were taken through the diverse academic programmes offered at MMUST, admission requirements, scholarship opportunities, student support services and the University’s commitment to producing competent graduates equipped for the dynamic global job market.

The outreach also provided students with an opportunity to interact directly with the MMUST team, ask questions on various career pathways and gain valuable insights into university life. The discussions emphasized the importance of choosing careers that align with personal strengths while responding to emerging national and global labour market demands.

Speaking during the exercise, Prof. Robert Egesa underscored the University’s dedication to supporting young people in making informed educational and career decisions.

“Career guidance plays a critical role in helping students identify their potential and make choices that will shape their future. At MMUST, we are committed to nurturing talent through quality education, innovation and practical learning experiences that prepare graduates for successful careers,” he noted.

The outreach team comprised James Muriithi, Faith Karani, Owino Ooko, Daudi Kioko, Jocelyne Mukwa, Everlyn Omung’ala, and Marcella Nandi, who actively engaged students through presentations, one-on-one consultations and distribution of informational materials highlighting MMUST’s academic programmes and unique learning environment.

The initiative forms part of MMUST’s ongoing student recruitment and outreach strategy aimed at enhancing career awareness among secondary school students while showcasing the University’s academic excellence, research, innovation and vibrant student experience.

Through such engagements, MMUST continues to position itself as The University of Choice, inspiring learners to pursue higher education that transforms lives and contributes to sustainable national development.
