MMUST STEPS UP EFFORTS TO IMPROVE INFRASTRUCTURAL FACILITIES FOR STAFF AND STUDENTS

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology has stepped up efforts to improve infrastructural facilities for staff and students. This was evident during the Vice Chancellor’s inspection of ongoing projects today, 26th August, 2022.

Prof. Solomon Shibairo commenced his inspection with the footbridge connecting to Hall Four (4) students’ residence followed by TVET complex and the Olympic size swimming pool. While inspecting the projects, he commended the projects’ supervisors for the work done. He instructed the Estate Manager to continue improving the beauty of the University by planting more flowers and trees to keep our environment more attractive. He further directed that more parking space be created, to avoid dangerous and disorganised parking within the University.

MMUST has three major projects ongoing. The first one is the TVET complex, which will house the TVET institute. This project is very important as the TVET institute will be independent from the University and will be able to admit students separately. The second ongoing project is the Olympic size swimming pool, which is the third largest in the country. The swimming pool will serve as a laboratory for Sports Science students in the University as well as aiding in hydrotherapy for both the University and the community. The third project is the footbridge which is being constructed to ease the movement of students from hostels to the University.

Prof. Shibairo’s administration is keen on making sure that the University has all the infrastructural facilities required to create a conducive environment for staff and students. Further, he said that in due course, different schools will be operating from different sections, which he said will do away with the congestion experienced earlier when various schools shared space.  Suchinfrastructural development reflects the University’s mission to provide high quality service delivery
