MMUST Top Leadership Undergoes Induction in Readiness to Spearhead the University Strategic Direction

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology leadership led by the University Chairperson of Council Dr. Pamela Sitienei is currently undergoing a three-day Internal Induction workshop at the PrideInn Flamingo Beach Resort and Spa, in Mombasa County. The three-day Workshop started on Tuesday 25th July 2023 and will end on Thursday 27th July 2023.

Among the key topics covered during the induction workshop are; Standards of Best Performing Corporations and the Oversight Role of the Board in the Development and Implementation of Human Resources by the Chief Executive Officer, the State Corporation Advisory Committee, FCS. Simon Indimuli, OGW, the Role of Council in Human Resource Management at the University, by Dr. Kerosi Josephat Bosire from the Corporative University of Kenya, Role of the Board and Management in Mooting and Driving Organizational Strategy by Mr. Lenard Asher from Empowerment Leadership Centre and The Public Procurement and Assets Disposal Framework in State Corporations by Mr. Tom Odhiambo from the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority.

This induction workshop is aimed at providing Council Members with proper induction as well as ongoing training and developments in the University to help them discharge their duties in a more informed manner.

Speaking during the official opening of the workshop, the Chief Guest, Chief Executive Officer of the State Corporation Advisory Committee Mr Simon Indimuli noted that with the current leadership in place, MMUST is headed in the right direction and there is a need for the Council to work with the relevant authorities within and outside the University to ensure that there are adequate structures in place for the effective and efficient management of the University.

The Vice-Chancellor gave a comprehensive presentation highlighting different sections of the University including staff and student demographics, infrastructure and the study centres. Prof. Shibairo stressed the need for the Council to facilitate the upgrading of the University infrastructure ranging from the student lecture halls, sports facilities, modern student centres and enhancement of students’ security.
