The Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport, Hon. Kipchumba Murkomen on Friday, 1st December, 2023, graced Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology’s graduation ceremony, where the Pro-Chancellor and Chairperson of Council-Dr. Pamela Sitienei conferred Degrees and Diplomas to 4,289 graduands.
The highly decorated event, which attracted government officials and political dignitaries, was Dr. Sitienei’s first-ever graduation to preside over since she became the Chairperson of the MMUST 7th Council. The theme of the ceremony was ‘Focusing on the Student to Scale the Heights of Excellence.’ It was an opportunity for MMUST to share its institutional agenda with the Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport, who promised to implement a raft of infrastructural projects, including laying of Cabro blocks on all the roads within the University, as well as the construction of the proposed footbridge.

The event was also attended by the MMUST Council members, Principal Secretary State Department for Higher Education and Research representative, Governor of Kakamega County representative, Vice Chancellors from other Universities, MMUST Deputy Vice Chancellors (DVC Administration and Finance-Prof. John Kuria Thuo, DVC Academic and Student Affairs-Prof. Hussein Golicha and DVC Planning, Research and Innovation-Prof. Charles Mutai).
Notably, Hon. Murkomen also visited the State of the Art high-fidelity simulation center, recently launched by Ms. Justine Ye from the Germany Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development. The grand 20th graduation ceremony has created the desired visibility for MMUST and the entire western region.
