The Rotaract Club of Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology has installed new leadership, consisting of the President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary as well as Directors. This was during a colourful event, dubbed ‘Installation and Fundraising Gala’, which took place on Saturday, 26th October, 2024 at the University’s Main Catering Unit. The ceremony marked the Association’s achievements and milestones, and was also an opportunity for the Club to contribute towards impactful community projects. The event was graced by officials from various Rotaract Clubs, including Ms. Josephine Oribo (President, Rotaract Club of Kakamega), Mr. Ian Odhiambo (Assistant District Rotaract Representative, District 9212) and Rotarian Alice Atemo (Kakamega). It was steered by the MMUST club patron, Ms. Eunice Rapando, in collaboration with the Office of the Dean of Students, represented by Mr. Oscar Waswa.
In her remarks, Ms. Rapando pointed out the projects that the club has been undertaking. “In an effort to support the University’s greening initiative, the club has planted over 1,500 trees. We plan to plant 15,000 more in Mt. Elgon, where MMUST has been allocated land for this important activity,” stated the Rotaract club patron. She revealed that the club is in the process of developing the Rotaract corner, a space on campus where students will be able to study, relax, and engage in leadership activities, while reinforcing Rotaract and Rotary values. “The project, which will include the construction of 25 study sheds for students, aims to enhance the study environment on campus and provide students with dedicated spaces to focus on their academic pursuits,” she said, adding that the club remains committed to improving student welfare and engagement through such initiatives.

Together, we can create a lasting impact and inspire future generations,” said Mr. Waswa. In addition, he reaffirmed the University Management's commitment to supporting the projects initiated by the club.
Notably, the Rotaract club of MMUST has adopted Mukumu Children's Home in Kakamega, where it plans to expand access to water by supporting the installation of sustainable water facilities that will benefit both the home and the surrounding community. The group has also engaged in community outreach activities, conducting multiple charity drives and fundraising events in support of various causes in Kakamega County.
