Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) has emerged as a global leader in innovation, clinching the top position in the prestigious International Innovation Academy competition. The competitions which took place from 20th November to 1st December 2024 were steered by Dr. Tecla Sum (Chief International Innovation Expert). The University was awarded the coveted first place in the international category of the competition held in St. Petersburg, Russia, showcasing its excellence in scientific research and technological advancements.
In addition to securing the top honor, MMUST demonstrated its diverse innovation capabilities by scooping four other medals in various categories, further solidifying its reputation as a hub of cutting-edge solutions. This was courtesy of three students who participated in various categories of the competitions. They included: Mr. Elvis Liuva Amiani (Digital Transfer Technology in Paramedicine), Ms. Moraa Edinah (Network and Systems administration), and Mr. Odoyo Bernard Phabian (Engineering Automation). The accolades reflect the MMUST’s commitment to fostering creativity and encouraging students and researchers to push the boundaries of knowledge and technology.

The event saw participation of over 15, 000 participants from Universities, research institutions, and innovators, all vying for recognition in their respective fields.
