MMUST Set to Become a Satellite Training Center for German Language

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) is set to become a satellite training center for the German language up to the B1 level, following a capacity assessment conducted by delegates from HTV Academy, who are currently working with Tom Mboya University (TMU) on the same program. The assessment, which took place today 6th February 2025, has paved the way for the University to expand its language offerings and allow students to gain proficiency in German. The introduction of this initiative will broaden our students’ horizons and equip them with valuable skills for the global job market. The program is open to students across the faculties who are 35 years and below.

B1 level is the basic level needed to attain a work Visa in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Luxembourg. However, for studies in University and other specific professions, one needs B2 and C1 certification. After completing the course, participants will have the chance to take the B1 German language exam. This exam will be conducted by examination bodies that are recognized by the German government and the certification is globally recognized. This will significantly increase the graduates’ employability.

The satellite center will not only focus on language training but also serve as a hub for cultural exchange, with plans for exchange programs and collaborative research projects with German institutions. The center’s establishment will further position MMUST as a regional leader in language education and international academic partnerships. Both Universities are optimistic that the center will be up and running soon, offering students a unique chance to gain proficiency in one of the most widely spoken languages in Europe.
