CPA Patrick Kivale has been re-elected unopposed as the Trustee for the Administrative and Technical staff members (Grades 5-15) of the Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) Staff Retirement Benefits Scheme. This follows a declaration made by the Chairperson of the Trustee Election Board, Dr. Samuel Waweru in accordance with the provisions of the Section 53 of the Kenya Elections Act No. 24, 2011; which states that when one candidate is validly nominated at the close of the nomination period, they are deemed to be duly elected. His re-election marks another milestone in his ongoing commitment to securing the financial future of university staff.

CPA Kivale’s re-election, with no competing candidates, depicts good stewardship of the Scheme he showed during his previous term. The election committee confirmed that the process was conducted in line with the Scheme’s regulations, ensuring fairness and transparency.
Speaking after the announcement of his re-election, CPA Kivale expressed gratitude to his fellow staff for their immense support. “The trust and confidence bestowed in me by my colleagues is deeply appreciated, and I remain fully committed to ensuring that the retirement benefits for our staff continue to grow, thrive, and meet the needs of our members. In the coming term, I intend to build on the successes of the past to ensure that we expand the Scheme’s benefits and explore more innovative investment opportunities for the future,” said CPA Kivale.

Congratulating the newly elected Trustee, the KUSU MMUST Chapter Secretary General Mr. Gregory Lidzanga lauded CPA Kivale for his exemplary leadership and strategic oversight in managing the Scheme, which has led to his re-election. He assured him of the Union’s support to ensure he contributes significantly to the growth and stability of the Scheme, which is the cornerstone for staff financial security.

The other members of the election board present included Mr. Godfrey Imbiakha, Mr. Manoah Opanga, Ms. Sharon Kosgey, Ms. Emily Kiveu and the Secretariat; Mr. Bernard Wesonga and Ms. Celestine Mmasi. The announcement was witnessed by the KUSU MMUST Branch Chairperson, Mr. David Khamala, Mr. Cosmas Rutto, Ms. Maria Mtimba and Mr. Joseph Arunga
The unopposed election is seen as a clear endorsement of Kivale’s leadership and vision for the future of the MMUST Staff Retirement Benefits Scheme. With his qualifications as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and his extensive experience in financial management, Kivale brings invaluable expertise to the role.
