
MMUST Celebrates Alumnus Seth Oketch as It Marks International Biomedical Laboratory Science Day 2025
As the world marks the International Biomedical Laboratory Science Day 2025, Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) proudly celebrates one of its outstanding alumnus, Mr. Seth Oketch, for his remarkable contributions to cancer management and healthcare innovation in Kenya. Mr. Oketch has a Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology. International Biomedical Laboratory Science Day is observed annually on 15th April to honor and raise awareness about the vital contributions of biomedical laboratory scientists in healthcare systems worldwide.
Mr. Oketchis a dedicated Health Economy expert based in Nairobi Kenya. He specializes in the management of pharmaceutical marketing, development and execution of patient support programs. His 8 year career spans across pharmaceutical marketing, organizational development, business strategies, as well as development and execution of patient support programs for chronic illnesses. He is the incumbent head of Oncology and Immunology business for Renata Plc in Kenya and East Africa, a giant pharmaceutical industry based in Bangladesh, with a global presence in over 30 countries across the continents.
Renata Plc maintains world-class manufacturing facilities that adhere to the highest quality and safety standards. The Company has 14 manufacturing facilities spread over three manufacturing sites. Renata operates in several modalities across oral solid dosage forms (tablets, capsules, OROS, oral dispersible tablets, soft gels) injectables (hormone injectables, general injectable and oncology injectables), inhalers (DPI, MDI) and nutraceutical products. Several of our sites have achieved international accreditations such as USFDA, UK MHRA, TGA, ANVISA and WHO (Geneva).
He partners with other Healthcare Providers to offer affordable oncology treatment in Kenya and the region lke Dounebaine Diagnostics which is a private referral Laboratory—the first IAS Accredited laboratory in Kenya. whose head office is at the Trance Tower, upper ground floor, on Tsavo Road, South B, Nairobi. It is open seven days a week and collects samples at home and anywhere at the patient’s request. They offer high-quality medical tests at affordable costs. Our technical team members include experts in microbiology, clinical chemistry, hematology, endocrinologists, certified consultant pathologists, oncologists and medical epidemiologists. In addition, we collaborate with excellent Network Doctors to follow up with our clients.
Prior to joining Renata Plc, Mr. Oketch held leadership roles as the head of Oncology business at Beacon Medicare Ltd and a Programs Officer at Marketvine Consulting Group a partner to Johnsons & Johnsons. Mr. Oketch is a Master’s student pursuing Health Economy and Policy at the University of Nairobi. His contribution in the field of Cancer management was discovered by the Principal Medical Laboratory Scientist- MMUST, Mr. James Robert Wakungwi Sakwa, who is also working on cancer screening and diagnosis.
