MMUST FINALLY REGISTERED AS A TVET INSTITUTE; SET TO ALSO ENROLL NYS-SPONSORED STUDENTS

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) has been issued with a Registration Certificate from the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA) certifying it as a Technical and Vocational College in accordance with the TVETA Act 2021 Section 20 (1). The University has been registered to operate under the name Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology TVET Institute.

MMUST TO PARTNER COUNTY GOVERNMENT OF KAKAMEGA IN ‘CRACKING’ THE COMMUNITY’S DEVELOPMENT AGENDA

MMUST and the County Government of Kakamega are set to upscale the development of the region by working together on a raft of activities and projects. This is after a delegation from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology led by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Planning Research and Innovation (DVC PRI) Prof. Judith Achoka paid a courtesy call to the County Government of Kakamega Public Service CEC, Ms. Jacinta Adhiambo Aluoch on Friday 21st May 2021 at the Kakamega County Headquarters.

MMUST RESEARCHERS UNDERGOES NRF AND TCC AFRICA RESEARCH TRAINING

The National Research Fund (NRF), in collaboration with the Training Centre in Communication Africa (TCC Africa) organized a three-day workshop targeting researchers from Nyanza and Western region in Kisumu from 11th to 13th of May 2021.

SCHOOL OF EDUCATION HOLDS VIRTUAL STAKEHOLDERS WORKSHOP FOR EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY CURRICULUM REVIEW

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology’s School of Education (SEDU), on 3rd May, 2021 held a virtual stakeholders workshop for Educational Psychology Curriculum Review. The review process was steered by the Dean, School of Education Prof. Moses Poipoi. The Workshop was themed ‘Realigning our Programs with the New Education Reforms and Curriculum Innovation.’

MMUST’s SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING AND BUILT ENVIRONMENT (SEBE) PRESENTS FINDINGS OF BASELINE-SURVEY ON TRAINING NEEDS IN ENGINEERING DURING INTERNATIONALLY SPONSORED WORKSHOP

The School of Engineering and Built Environment (SEBE) represented by Dean, Dr. Eng. Bernadette Sabuni, Chairpersons of Departments (CoDs), Dr. Micah Mukungu, Dr. James Owour and Dr. Peter Cherop, was hosted by Dedan Kimathi University of Technology (DeKUT) in a one-day workshop whose theme was “Redefining Engineering Curriculum for Industrial Development”. The workshop, sponsored by Royal Academy of Engineering under Higher Education Partnership in sub-Saharan Africa (HEPSSA) was held on 30th April 2021 at the Golden Gate Hotel, Nyeri. It drew participants from the industry and academia. The main aim of the workshop was to present findings of baseline-survey carried out by SEBE on training needs in Engineering.

MMUST'S SCHOOL OF ARTS AND SOCIAL SCIENCES TAKES LEAD IN REVIEW OF ACADEMIC PROGRAMS IN TANDEM WITH INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology’s School of Arts and Social Sciences (SASS) has taken the lead in reviewing the institution’s academic programs. SASS held its review in a fruitful workshop from 29th to 30th April, 2021 at Farm View Hotel in Busia County. The event was graced by the Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Solomon Shibairo, who emphasized on the need to review programs to conform to the Commission for University Education (CUE) standards.

COVID-19 AND THE WORLD OF WORK - FKE WORKSHOP WESTERN REGION AGM

homeThe Federation of Kenya Employers (FKE) Western region held their 40th branch Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Wednesday 21st April 2021. The theme of the AGM was ‘Covid-19 and the world of Work’.

During the AGM, the Dean School of Business(SOBE), Dr. Robert Egessa was the guest speaker where he talked about ‘Managing Enterprises in a Complex Business Environment’.

FKE is a representative member association for employers in Kenya. The FKE Western region has over 50 members. Present at the workshop was Ag. Labour Commissioner Ms. Hellen Apiyo, who doubled as the Chief Quest, the FKE President, Dr. Habil Olaka, FKE Executive Director Mrs. Jacqueline Mugo, and FKE Western Region President Dr. Margaret Oloo.

MMUST FUNDED RESEARCH PROJECT SET TO UPSCALE POSTGRADUATE COMPLETION RATES

A team from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology is working on a research that will revolutionize postgraduate programs and ensure timely completion rates by postgraduate students. The research team led by Dr. Frida Miruka hosted a workshop on Friday 23rd April 2021 at Bishop Stam Pastoral Center, Kakamega. The purpose of the workshop was to validate the findings for their MMUST-funded research on ‘Investigation of Factors Affecting Postgraduate Completion Rates at MMUST’. This is among the various Institutional funded research projects aimed at driving the research agenda in the University

MMUST RECEIVES EQUIPMENT DONATIONS WORTH KSHS. 25 MILLION FROM KROGH OPTIKK, NORWAY

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology’s Department of Optometry and Vision Sciences has received specialized equipment donations from Krogh Optikk, Norway, valued at approximately Kshs. 25 Million. As stated by Ms. Sheila Nangena, a member of staff in the Department, these machines were donated as a result of an ongoing collaborative project between MMUST, the University of South-Eastern Norway (USN) and Brien Holden Vision Institute (BHVI), Australia.
