MMUST FINALLY GETS SUBSTANTIVE TOP MANAGERS!

MMUST is delighted to inform you that the Council, working together with the Public Service Commission (PSC), have finalized the process of recruitment of top managers for Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology.

The following have been appointed:

  1. Vice Chancellor Position- Prof. Solomon Shibairo, who has been Ag. VC, MMUST
  2. Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration and Finance- Prof. John Kuria Thuo, who has been the Vice Chancellor, Gretsa University.
  3. Deputy Vice Chancellor, Planning, Research and Innovation- Prof. Charles Mutai, who was previously the Ag. Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration and Finance at MMUST
  4. Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic and Student Affairs- Prof. Hussein S. A. Golicha, who was previously the Ag. Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academics, Garissa University

We congratulate our new top managers and wish them well as they embark on their duties.  May God guide them as they continue building our great University.

MMUST SET TO BE A TRAIL BLAZER IN SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION AFTER SIGNING MEMORANDA WITH KANFCCO AND AAK

On 21st September, 2021, Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology made history by signing two (2) Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) with Kakamega Natural Forest Catchment Conservation Organization (KANFCCO) and Automobile Association of Kenya (AAK). One MoU was drawn between KANFCCO and MMUST’s Institute of Indigenous Knowledge and Cultural Studies (IIKCS), while the other was between AAK and the MMUST TVET institute.

MMUST SCHOOL OF NURSING, MIDWIFERY AND PARAMEDICAL SCIENCES (SONMAPS) STUDENTS DISSEMINATES COMMUNITY DIAGNOSIS REPORT TO KEGOYE COMMUNITY IN VIHIGA COUNTY

MMUST has embarked on dissemination of research findings to the community. This was during the visit to Kegoye Sub-location in Vihiga County, on 17th September 2021, where students from the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedical Sciences (SONMAPS) met members of the community to discuss health issues affecting the society.

MMUST’S AG. VC PROF. SOLOMON SHIBAIRO APPRECIATED BY THE KENYA RUGBY 7S STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING COACH MR. ANTHONY MUCHIRI

MMUST’S Ag. Vice Chancellor Prof. Solomon Shibairo, today 20th September 2021 was highly appreciated through Kenya Rugby Jersey portrait signed by the Kenya Rugby 7s players and an original jersey by the leading Kenya Rugby 7s Strength and Conditioning Coach Mr. Anthony Muchiri Mr. Muchiri, a postgraduate student of MMUST in the Department of Health Promotion and Sports Science, is currently serving as the Kenya Sevens Rugby team Strength and Conditioning Coach. He represented Kenya in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic games. It is in this regard that Mr. Muchiri and two of his colleagues rewarded the office of the Vice Chancellor for nurturing their talent. Prof. Shibairo appreciated the kind gesture from Mr. Muchiri and his colleagues.

He further commended them for their great accomplishments in sports and for putting MMUST on the global map. Other members of the University present were the Director of Research and Postgraduate Studies, Prof. Peter Bukhala, and the Dean School of Public Health, Biomedical Sciences & Technology

UASU MMUST CHAPTER HOLDS AN ANTI-JIGGER CAMPAIGN TO COMBAT THE MENACE IN HAMISI- VIHIGA COUNTY

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology University Academic Staff Union (UASU) on Tuesday 14th September 2021, finalized their 3-day Anti-jigger campaign in Hamisi, Vihiga County. This is part of a series of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives that UASU has recently embarked on. It is the third edition of the CSR activities after Reproductive health which was held in Siaya and Tree planting in Mahiakalo under the major theme ‘Jamii yetu Wajibu wetu’.

MMUST NEWLY ELECTED STUDENT COUNCIL SHARPEN THEIR SKILLS THROUGH AN INDUCTION SESSION IN LEADERSHIP AND GOVERNANCE

Masinde Muliro University Student Organisation (MMUSO) leaders are currently undergoing an induction session on ‘Leadership and Governance’ at Kisumu Hotel, in Kisumu County. This is courtesy of the initiative of the Kenya Universities Deans of Students Association (KUDSA) in collaboration with the Kenya School of Government, which started in 2017. The project aims at nurturing University student leadership and equipping young leaders with necessary skills to become future leaders. The training organised by the office of the Dean of students led by Dr. Bernadette Abwao, kicked off yesterday 14th September 2021 and will run until Friday 17th September 2021.

We are delighted to bring to your attention that, on  September 7, 2021, the Ag. Vice Chancellor, Prof. Solomon Shibairo was interviewed by the Password Magazine Editorial Board. The Password Magazine is a student magazine that highlights students’ activities at the University. The interviewers who comprised of MaryAnne,  Njambi Gaithu, Brian Ochieng Onuonga, Brian Hermes Onyiengo, focused on his 3-year plan as the University’s Vice Chancellor and his role in the students’ affairs.
