
127 Students Pursuing Various Courses at MMUST Set to Benefit from the KSh 889,000 Cheque Donated by Shinyalu MP, Hon. Fredrick Lusuli Ikana
Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) is delighted to announce that on Tuesday 14th July, 2026, the Member of Parliament for Shinyalu Constituency- Hon. Fredrick Lusuli Ikana presented a cheque worth Ksh. Eight Hundred and Eighty Nine ( 889,000) to support needy students at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST). The youthful, development conscious MP handed over the cheque to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Solomon Shibairo who was flanked by the Deputy Vice Chancellor- Planning, Research and Innovation, Prof. Christopher Ngacho.

This is a star – rated University not only in Kenya and the region but also globally,” stated Hon. Ikana. He added that it is incumbent upon the leaders and residents of the region to develop affordable housing while the security organs must ensure that there is security for the growing population.

Echoing the Hon Ikana, the Vice Chancellor expressed appreciation for the support from the Member of Parliament for Shinyalu Constituency and called upon other leaders to emulate this gesture. “We are expecting 7586 new students as we prepare to receive the first year students in September. This is an opportunity for supportive leaders in the region to assist to offer their contribution as well as the provision of adequate and affordable accommodation for the growing student population,” said Prof. Shibairo.

The scholarship support is aimed at easing the financial burden faced by the beneficiaries and enabling them to continue with their academic programmes. Indeed, this is a commendable act of leadership and giving back to the community by the Member of Parliament for Shinyalu Constituency- Hon. Fredrick Lusuli Ikana. Championing education should be among the main initiatives that preoccupy national leaders.
