MMUST Marks 2026 Customer Service Week, Championing the Extra Mile in Service Excellence!
Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) on 9th October, 2026, joined the world in marking Customer Service Week 2026, championing the commitment to going the extra mile in service excellence. Spearheaded by the Directorate of Corporate Communications and Marketing (DCCM), the celebrations marked the culmination of a week-long campaign that brought together students, staff and external customers to reflect on the importance of responsive, efficient and customer-centred service delivery. The event was graced by the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Planning, Research and Innovation, Prof. Christopher Ngacho, who commended DCCM for organizing the celebrations and called for strengthened customer service practices across the University.
In his remarks, Prof. Ngacho called on all University cost centres to maintain customer registers to strengthen service monitoring and accountability. He noted that the registers will help the institution to track the number of customers served, the services sought and the level of customer satisfaction across different departments. “This is now a government requirement, and we will be reviewing the registers monthly. We will work closely together to enhance our customers’ experience,” he said.
On her part, the Director DCCM, Dr. Lydia Anyonje noted that MMUST was pleased to join the rest of the world in marking Customer Service Week 2026. She explained that the annual celebration recognizes and appreciates both customer service professionals and customers. “MMUST is proud to join the rest of the world in marking the Customer Service Week 2026. The occasion recognizes the officers who provide services as well as the customers they serve,” stressed Dr. Anyonje.
The Director of Career Services, Prof. Robert Egessa lauded the close working relationship between the Directorate of Career Services and DCCM, noting their collective contribution to student recruitment and strengthening the University’s public image. He commended the DCCM team for consistently responding to enquiries, engaging prospective students and conducting outreach activities to market the University. Prof. Egessa also acknowledged the team’s role in addressing adverse publicity and correcting misconceptions about the institution.
“Through these collective efforts, MMUST attracted more than 8,000 students this year, the highest number we have ever recorded. This demonstrates the role that DCCM plays in promoting the University and strengthening its public image,” he stated. He further emphasized the importance of all stakeholders to the University’s success, noting that students, teaching and non-teaching staff, and other stakeholders are integral to its existence and growth. “You have sacrificed a lot, and together, you have contributed immensely to making MMUST what it is today. Keep up the good spirit. We will continue working together to market the University,” he added.
It is encouraging to see MMUST embrace a culture of service excellence. As the University continues to advance its mandate in teaching, research and community engagement, providing responsive, efficient and customer-centred services remains essential to enhancing customer satisfaction, strengthening stakeholder confidence and achieving institutional excellence!
