MMUST RFC Thump the Catholic Monks RFC

A terrifically confrontentional and physical MMUST RFC got their redemption with a perfect 15-8 win over Catholic Monks RFC at Kakamega Showground on Saturday.
The visitors opened the scoreboard with a penalty conversion from fullback Newton Wasike with just 4 minutes into the game. MMUST RFC responded with a Timothy Mmasi penalty and just before halftime fullback Isaiah Mulongo made a good set piece run and delivered a grabber that was chased and dotted down by scrum half Derrick Okisai. The conversion went wide making the scores 8-3 in favour of the hosts.

The "Makaka" had momentum on their side and just 90 seconds into the second half, winger Tyson Juma grounded the ball just under the H and a good conversion by John Bahati made the scores 15-3. The visitors got a consolation try at the 65th minute through center back Reginald Masagwe. With a reputation to keep the Monks banged into MMUST's defence but all was in vain as the defense proved to be concrete making the full time scores 15-8 in favour of MMUST RFC.
With a win against Catholic Monks, MMUST now move to 5th position in the championship standings and are 18 points above Mombasa RFC, Kisii Rugby and Ngong Warriors. MMUST RFC will face Mombasa RFC next Saturday at the Mombasa Sports Club.
