The team was flagged off at Iguhu Sub-County Hospital by the senior doctor, Dr. Mohammed Munyendo, who applauded the scholars for their commitment to ensure the community gets correct facts about COVID-19. He further appreciated the partnership between MMUST and Iguhu Sub-County Hospital in their joint efforts to educate the public on the COVID-19 safety measures.
The awareness campaign themed ‘Psycho-social Approach in Response and Prevention of COVID-19’ focused on the community’s ways, practices, concepts, beliefs, culture and misconceptions about the pandemic. This was in the effort to establish the community’s response towards COVID-19 safety measures.
The diversified research team was led by Dr. Tecla Sum who was the Principal Investigator (PI). The other Co-Principal Investigators included Dr. Rose Opiyo, Dr. Bernard Wesonga and Dr. Fridah Miruka. Research Assistants were drawn from postgraduate students in various fields.
