The official handing over of the University leadership of Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology took place on 10th July 2019. Prof. Bosire has been at the helm of the university leadership for the last seven (7) months starting from 31st November 2018 to 31st June 2019, in the capacity of the Ag. Vice Chancellor. While handing over, the outgoing Ag. VC. Prof Bosire wished Prof. Sigot well as she takes over the university leadership.
We wish Prof. Sigot success as she steers our great university to prosperity.
The BBC Swahili team are impressed with the journalistic skills, eloquence and professionalism of the MMUST journalism and mass communication students. The BBC team spent better part of last week, starting from Wednesday 29th Friday 31st May 2019, going around Kakamega and its environs accompanied by MMUST communication students. The team was led by Wanyama wa Chebusiri, the senior Swahili broadcast journalist, Anne Ngugi, broadcast journalist and Idris Situma, the Swahili online editor at BBC Swahili.
Kakamega farmers now have a reason to smile, after the County government revealed plans to work with MMUST School of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences (SAVET) to improve their farming techniques. This was during the 2019 MMUST Kakamega Agri-Expo, organized by SAVET in the University Farm on 24th May 2019.
MMUST held the MMUSO elections on Friday 10th and 13th May 2019 Respectively. According to observers, this was the most contested student elections since the promulgation of the parliamentary system of voting in MMUST in 2016.
Famously known as ‘The wolves’, the Kakamega Ultimate Frisbee club was founded back in October 2016, by MMUST students who went against all odds and brought this unique sport into the university sporting family.
A sustainable environment is a fundamental pre-requisite in national development, poverty eradication and improved livelihoods for all generations.This is according to the Ministry of Environment & Mineral Resources in Kneya. It is in this regard, that the MMUST Department of Biological Sciences environmental club, in conjunction with Stand Up Shout Out (SUSO) Kakamega division and Organization of Environmental Conservationists (OEC) came together in a peaceful campaign to sensitize Kakamega residence on proper waste disposal and waste management, all geared towards a cleaner and healthy town on Saturday 27th April, 2019.
Did you know that MMUST has successfully moved most of its services to both staff and students from paper to online?
The desire of any stakeholder in an organization is access to basic services at a click of a button, from the comfort of their office or house. This saves on time and resources used in the whole process. Research shows that more than Kshs.10 million is used to procure rims of paper and maintenance of printing machines in offices. Off course we cannot totally do away with papers but we can totally reduce the amount of papers used in our institutions.
The Central Organization of Trade Unions- Kenya (COTU-K) Secretary General, Dr. Francis Atwoli, who is also a MMUST Alumni, is now the MMUST Goodwill Ambassador. Dr. Atwoli will lead the university’s effort to raise five hundred an
d fifty million Kenya shillings (Ksh. 550 M) for the Construction of the Dr. Atwoli International Centre for Labour and Leadership Studies (DAICELLS) at the University.
