Ms. Veronica Wamalwa Declared Trustee Representative-Elect at the Just Concluded Staff Retirement Benefits Scheme Elections

The Presiding Officer, Dr. Pamela Buhere, leads the votes counting process.

Ms. Veronica Nasimuyu Wamalwa has been declared Trustee Representative-elect at the just concluded MMUST Staff Retirement Benefits Scheme elections. Ms. Wamalwa garnered 102 votes out of the 247 votes cast in the highly competitive elections which took place on Tuesday, 16th April, 2024. She will be representing Administrative and Technical staff in Grades 5-15.

In an interview with the DCCM crew, the Chairman, Trustee Election Board-Dr. Joseph Owino, noted that the voting process was very peaceful, and that candidates conducted themselves with decorum. He commended the electorate for showing up to vote, adding that the voter turnout was exceptionally high.

In his remarks, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), Lurambi Constituency Returning Officer-Mr. Salim Abdallah, reiterated that he was impressed with the voter turnout. Further, he revealed that his role in the election was to monitor the process, supervise and give advice where necessary, as well as to ensure that the activity was free, fair and verifiable. The Lurambi Constituency Returning Officer applauded the election officials for carrying out the process in accordance with the training they underwent, which he facilitated.

The members of the election board were Dr. Pamela Buhere (Presiding Officer), Mr. Patrick Wanambisi (Deputy Presiding Officer), Ms. Violet Oside, Mr. Joseph Kitui and Mr. Benard Wesonga.

The results of the elections were as follows; Wamalwa Veronica Nasimuyu-102 votes; Anyika Williat-71 votes; Musisi Jacob Bushuru-41 votes; Tuyia Linett-21 votes and Mwangi Sammy Kiragu-12 votes.

Elections are an important ingredient of organizational decision making and leadership, and MMUST is certainly doing this.
