Delegation From African Canadian Continuing Education Society Pays Courtesy Call to the Vice Chancellor!

MMUST is delighted to inform you that on 29th January 2025, a delegation from the African Canadian Continuing Education Society (ACCES-Kenya) paid a courtesy call to our Vice Chancellor, Prof. Solomon Shibairo. The delegation, led by Executive Director Mr. Kevin Fadum, visited MMUST to explore opportunities for collaboration and strengthen ties with the University. The key highlight of the visit was the discussion on formalizing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between MMUST and ACCES-Kenya. This partnership aims to enhance academic opportunities in the Western region, especially for students transitioning to higher education.

Since its establishment in 1993, ACCES-Kenya has been a beacon of hope for bright, underprivileged post-secondary students, providing them with partial scholarships and financial support. Operating primarily in Western Kenya, the organization allocates KSh. 18 million annually to support these students, ensuring that they are able to complete their full course of studies. While this funding currently covers one-third of an individual’s tuition fees, adjustments may be made in response to evolving educational funding policies in Kenya.

Prof. Shibairo expressed deep appreciation for the generosity of the Canadian people, acknowledging the profound impact of ACCES’s contributions on higher education in Kenya, most specifically, in the Western region. Echoing this sentiment, Mr. Fadum reaffirmed the organization’s dedication to empowering students, stating, “Education is the pathway to self-actualization.
