The Directorate of Career Services Hosts MMUST Alumni Executive Committee in Readiness to Revamping the Association

The Directorate of Career Services, under the leadership of , today kicked off a two-day workshop for the Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology Alumni Association (MMUSTAA) Executive Committee at Kisumu Hotel, Kisumu County. The workshop, which runs from Friday 3 May to Saturday 4 May 2024, is aimed at revamping the MMUST Alumni Association and chat the way forward in making it more vibrant and work with the University leadership to help the University achieve its mision.

During the opening ceremony, the Ag. Vice Chancellor, Prof. Charles Mutai, addressed the committee members and emphasized the pivotal role of the Alumni Association in any academic institution. Prof. Mutai urged the executive members to take an active role in supporting the university's mandate and to participate in the MMUST Chancellor's Endowment Fund, which supports and assists financially challenged students.

Prof. Mutai also highlighted the importance of alumni networks in promoting the university's image worldwide and urged the committee members to mobilize the entire alumni body to participate in this crucial endeavor. The workshop's facilitator, Dr. Robert Wafula, Director of Career Services from Kibabii University, will cover topics on transitioning from student to alumni, the role of alumni associations in mentoring, and career advising, and building the alumni network through mapping and resource mobilization.

Other key university leaders, including Prof. Edwin Wamukoya, the Ag. DVC ASA, and Deputy Registrar Academics, Mr. Zablon Obengo, were also present. This workshop presents a unique opportunity for alumni executive members and the University management to strategize on working together to enable the two entities achieve the common goal of elevating the University to greater heights and also gain insights into the crucial role of alumni associations in promoting academic institutions' image and effectively contribute to the University's mission.
