MMUST Participates in Nation Media Group’s Higher Education Fair and Skills Expo 2025 in Its Continued Efforts to Attract Prospective Students Countrywide

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology is among the institutions of higher learning that participated in the just concluded Higher Education Fair and Skills Expo 2025, organized by the Nation Media Group. The 2-day expo, which took place from 30th to 31st January, 2025 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), saw MMUST showcase its academic programs in an effort to attract more potential students countrywide. The University’s participation in this event was coordinated by the Directorate of Career Services in conjunction with the Directorate of Corporate Communications and Marketing (DCCM).

“This event has enabled us to market MMUST by showcasing our various programs and everything else that we offer. Throughout this exercise, we will be giving career advice to prospective students while educating them on both the national and global trends regarding the labour industry,” stated the Director of Career Services-Prof. Robert Egesa. He further appreciated the University Management for its continued support towards such activities, saying that they are crucial to bringing in more students to MMUST.

Commenting on the importance of taking part in such events, the Director-DCCM, Dr. Lydia Anyonje, pointed out that career expos avail a critical opportunity for visibility and marketing of the University. “Participating in this event has enabled us to engage with clients directly and conducted on-spot recruitment and admission into a number of our academic programs. We have also interacted with peers and picked up modern marketing practices that will improve our service delivery. We thank the MMUST Management for the support,” said Dr. Anyonje.

Speaking at KICC, the Marketing Officer-Mr. James Muriithi, revealed that the MMUST team was able to recruit over fifteen (15) PSSP (Privately Sponsored Students Programmes) students during the 2-day exercise. “This event is timely as the higher education recruitment process is ongoing. The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service-KUCCPS portal is currently open for applications to TVET institutions and we are trying to get as many students as possible before it closes,” stated Mr. Muriithi. The Marketing Officer added that the University anticipates an increase in the number of students allocated by KUCCPS in the 2025 intake by at least 15% from last year.
