MMUST Set To Be An IELTS Center After Signing MOU With Kenyannurse Consultants Ltd

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology is set to be an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Center, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between MMUST and KenyanNurse Consultants LTD. The MoU was signed today, 21st August, 2023 by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Solomon Shibairo, as well as the Chief Executive Officer- KenyanNurse Consultants LTD Mr. Caleb Wafula.

Speaking during the MoU signing ceremony, Prof. Shibairo noted that this partnership will expose Nursing students to local and international opportunities, adding that the University envisions producing nurses who can work and study anywhere in the world.

In his remarks, Mr. Wafula stated that KenyanNurse Consultants LTD offers support to nurses (and other healthcare professionals) relocating to overseas countries, and is the main point of contact for all Nursing-related training, both locally and internationally. It does this through entry English exams like IELTS, and offers training in internationally recognized Nursing exams.

The MMUST IELTS Center, which will serve the Western region of Kenya and beyond, is set to improve the global visibility of the University. As stated by the Dean- School of Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedical Sciences (SONMAPS), Mr. John Arudo, this collaboration will link MMUST to the British Council, an organization that promotes cultural relations and educational opportunities.

Other MMUST members present during the MoU signing ceremony were; the Acting Registrar (Planning, Research and Innovation), Prof. Alice Ndiema, Director-Quality Assurance Prof. Danstone B. Lilechi, the Director-International Relations and Academic Linkages (DIAL), Dr. Umulkher Ali, and the Chairperson-Department of Reproductive Health, Midwifery and Child Health, Ms. Beatrice Mukabana. They all reiterated that the MoU will place MMUST on the global map, and assured their support to the partnership.

The KenyanNurse Consultants LTD team comprised; Mr. Edwin Simiyu, Ms. Brenda Imali, Ms. Sandra Kiplagat and Mr. Allan Seurey.
